Ryan Moore - Jockey
Ryan's father is the highly regarded flat trainer, Gary Moore, who is noted for training the well-known sire of racehorses, Karinga Bay. Ryan's brother is the talented jump jockey Jamie Moore.
Ryan's racing background meant that becoming a jockey was a natural progression, and he began his race riding career as an apprentice for his father. Ryan now works for a number of top trainers with the majority of rides coming from Sir Michael Stoute.
Highlights in Ryan's career have been in 2003, when he notched up 59 winners and claimed the award for leading apprentice of the year. He went on to win the Jockeys Championship in 2006 and in the process rode his first Group 1 winner aboard Notnowcato in the Juddmonte International Stakes.
Unfortunately he missed much of the 2007 season due to a broken arm he sustained in mid-March at Lingfield. This was a huge dent to regaining his champion jockey title bur he did regain the title in 2008, with an impressive 186 wins, before repeating the feat in 2009, a year in which he also won the Breeders' Cup Turf, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
2010 will live long in the memory for Ryan as he became the first jockey in the history of the sport to win the Investec Oaks, Investec Derby and Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in the same year.
Wait For The Will is Ryan's favourite horse, whilst he regards 2003 Goodwood King George Stakes winner, The Tatling, as the best horse he has ever ridden.
